Penal Code Section 290 Registration Relief

Until two years ago, California was one of only two states requiring lifetime Penal Code Section 290 Registration for any listed sex crime.  Fortunately, the Legislature recognized the injustice of this lifetime registration requirement and modified the law establishing a three-tier system dictating various lengths of registration depending mostly on the conviction charge.   Initially, you must determine which Tier you fall under and if in an eligible tier, the petition the Court for relief from the Penal Code Section 290 Registration requirement.
