Domestic Violence charges such as Corporal Injury to a Spouse in violation of Penal Code Section 273.5 or Domestic Battery in violation of Penal Code Section 243(e)(1) often arise out of the heat of the moment and when tempers cool both parties regret the involvement of Law Enforcement. No type of case is more suitable for pre-filing representation than Domestic Violence cases. Pre-filing representation involves contacting the District Attorney with mitigating evidence BEFORE charges are filed. In appropriate cases, our pre-filing intervention with the filing District Attorney has persuaded the District Attorney not to file charges.
